Player card : Moriah.
21.06.2010 - 23:26 - ![]() Portugal will be present! Represented by a young player from Dignitas who always perform on this kind of tournament, he will be ready to disturb his main rivals. Third participation at the ESWC, WCG participation in last year, a third place at the TEX 2009, he has all the experience necessary to make a strong result. His aggressive driving makes it even more dangerous than his desire to occupy a podium at a World Cup should be at its peak. Interview TM-actu : Hello Moriah. First of all, can you introduce yourself to our readers ? Moriah :Hi, my name is Pedro Benjamim also known in TMNF as 'Moriah', I'm 21 years old from Lisbon, Portugal and I play TMNF since 2006 and since 2007 for Team Dignitas. How was your qualifications ? My country didn't have any TM qualifications, so I had to apply for the invitations. Fortunately, and mainly due to my history with ESWC, I got selected amongst the 7 players. What do you think of the guest list and the system established by the ESWC ? I think the guest list is pretty fair and balanced. They selected the best and most active nowadays players, and were able to ignore the applications from those who don't play anymore, even though they performed well 2 years ago. Means the judges have a good idea of what's going on in the present TMNF scene. The system itself is good, it was used before in ESWC Masters 2007 and it worked pretty good. Well back then, as it worked now. Even though other systems like online qualifications could be made, but would involve a lot more work, the results would be pretty much the same more or less. What is your opinion about the 5 maps chosen for the competition ? I was part of the selected players by ESWC to help them choose the best maps for this competition. Personally, I tried to find a nice balance between length, flow, difficulty, bugs, coppers, starts and finishes. Overall I think the mappack is really good, harder than normal (suitable for such a tournament), has a nice variety of turns and flow, is fun to drive, doesn't have many bugs, and has a nice overall feeling. What is your goal for this great event ? How have you prepared yourself ? As I don't see myself as a top player amongst the attendees, I would say my goal is to reach the overall final. At the moment I'm trying to have a nice balance between university works and exams, practicing and free time. But I think I'll be decently prepared for this event. Without Karjen or FrostBeule, the competition looks more open than ever. What is your pronostic ? It sure does. Usually when Karjen and/or Frostbeule attend an event, people aren't that much motivated to practice, since it's very hard to beat them (especially Karjen). Without them everyone's motivation just boosts up. I think it will be a very close competition, as everyone is practicing and is already driving nice times on the maps, so we'll see. We will sure have some surprises this year. All the staff wishes you a beautiful event and therefore a good stay in Paris. You have the final word of course.
